ICC World XI Set to Face West indies in Charity T20 Tie at Lord's.

London:-A galaxy of former and current stars will be in action at the iconic Lord's on Thursday to play an exhibition match between the ICC World XI and the West Indies and help raise funds for the refurbishment of five cricket stadia in the Caribbean that were damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has finally been named to lead the World XI after England's limited overs captain Eoin Morgan sustained a broken finger during a domestic match.
The World XI side, in fact, has had more than a few changes since being formally announced.

Morgan was the first name announced, followed by those of Afridi, his compatriot Shoaib Malik and Thisara Perera, the Sri Lanka T20I captain. Next came Rashid Khan, the Afghan leg-spin superstar, and Bangladesh stalwarts Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, followed by Indians Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya and New Zealanders Luke Ronchi and Mitchell McClenaghan.

That completed the XI, but Shakib opted out because of personal reasons and was replaced by the exciting teenaged Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

Pandya has also opted out since then, to be replaced by countrymate Mohammed Shami, who has also been swapped with Tymal Mills, while Sam Billings has filled in for Morgan.

English cricketers Adil Rashid and Sam Curran have also been late additions to the 13-man squad.

The squad still wears an extremely strong look. Iqbal, Billings, Karthik, Ronchi and Malik, with Afridi and Perera providing excellent options for a late burst, makes for a mouth-watering batting line-up.

Karthik, Ronchi and Billings are all wicket-keeping candidates, while in McClenaghan, Curran and Mills, there's a good pace department.

Squads:-
ICC World XIShahid Afridi (Captain), Sam Billings (WK), Sam Curran, Tamim Iqbal, Tymal Mills, Dinesh Karthik (WK), Rashid Khan, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mitchell McClenaghan, Shoaib Malik, Thisara perera, Luke Ronchi (WK), Adil Rashid.

West Indies: Carlos Brathwaite (Captain), Samuel Badree, Rayad Emrit, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Denesh Ramdin (WK), Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Kesrick Williams.

IRCTC e-ticketing website now predicts if your waitlisted ticket will be confirmed; here’s how it works.

IRCTC next-generation e-ticketing website has been revamped and now has one of the coolest features for waitlisted and RAC ticket holders! Indian Railways catering arm, IRCTC, has effective today launched a new version of its e-ticketing website, irctc.co.in.

IRCTC next-generation e-ticketing website has been revamped and now has one of the coolest features for waitlisted and RAC ticket holders! Indian Railways catering arm, IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation), has effective today launched a new version of its e-ticketing website, irctc.co.in. Now, when you enter the IRCTC website, a beta version is available for trial by passengers on the top left hand corner of the site. The new revamped IRCTC website has several new passenger friendly measures – from no requirement of login to check train status and availability of tickets to an easier user interface. But, one particular feature that stands out is a new software that allows passengers to see the probability of their waitlisted or RAC ticket getting confirmed. Developed by CRIS (Centre For Railway Information Systems), the new software for waitlisted passengers makes use of historical data to come up with a percentage probability of the ticket getting confirmed.
Talking to Financial Express Online, a railway official said that the new software for waitlisted passengers was reasonably accurate. “Other portals also offer a similar feature, but since Indian Railways has more data and accurate at that, our software is more on target,” the official said. “The new software on the IRCTC website for waitlisted passengers makes use of two years of data to come up with a parentage chance of the ticket getting confirmed,” the official told FE Online. “For example if you are booking a train ticket for the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express on May 31, then the software will fetch historical data for the last two years for that particular date. The system will check to what extent did the waitlisted tickets get confirmed on May 31, 2017 and May 31, 2016. Based on this and other data trends, a percentage probability will be generated,” the official further explained.
Not only that, the new feature for waitlisted passengers also generates other available train options along with alternate dates of departure (see image above). According to the railway official quoted above, this new system by IRCTC also allows passengers to make a more informed choice. “For example, if data suggests that there is a 95% chance of the ticket getting confirmed, then the passenger is likely to book the ticket and not opt for VIKALP either. If on the other hand, there is a 60% chance of the ticket getting confirmed, then the passenger will most probably opt for an alternate train or date, or even if he/she goes ahead with the booking, will likely choose the VIKALP scheme as well,” the official elaborates.

Why Indian Railways passengers will have to bear train delays for another 6-8 months.

The railways today said passengers will have to bear with train delays for at least six to eight months more, even if the ongoing maintenance and repair works go as per schedule.

The punctuality performance of the railways in 2017-18 was worse in comparison to the two financial years before that, with almost 30 per cent of trains running late, according to official data.

“If we complete track maintenance work of about 5,000 km by 2018-2019, then in the next six to eight months passengers will be spared the inconvenience of delays,” Mohd Jamshed, the Railway Board Member (Traffic), told reporters.

The punctuality of mail and express trains during April 2017-March 2018 was 71.39 per cent as compared to 76.69 per cent in the corresponding period of 2016-2017, which is a deterioration of 5.30 per cent. In 2015-2016, 77.44 per cent trains ran on time.
